Made a quick lunch stop in Bologna on the way to Florence. Apparently, it's a regional food center (which is what caught Jen's attention), and a university town, which gives it some urban flair.We had tagliatelle with bolognese sauce (of course) and tortellini with butter and sage at a tratorria which seemed popular with the locals.
Highlight was the incredible chocolate and strawberry gelato, which still remains the best we've had so far. And we've literally tried a different place every day.
Beyond the food, Bologna struck me as a great city to spend some quality time.
